Daniel Negreanu 2008 WSOP: 1 Bracelet and Counting!!!

This morning I wanted to write a short post on a remarkable poker player, Daniel Negreanu. As one of the more famous and likable poker players out there, you probably already know his name and have seen him on TV numerous times. A great player and a gentleman at the table, he is engaging and fun to watch and already having a very nice 2008 WSOP.

Daniel captured his 4th WSOP bracelet in event #20 the $2,000 buy in Limit Hold'em tournament. He won $204,874 for this tournament and played superbly with the outcome of the tournament really never in question.

He also placed 13th in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event winning another $142,080.  7th place in the Pot Limit Omaha $5,000 buy in tournament netted him another $123,437. 11th place in the $10k Seven Card Stud event $33,417 and 22nd in the No Limit w/rebuys $1,000 event $16,496 bringing his total so far in the 2008 WSOP to $520,304 and he is not done yet!

I would guess you will see further strong showings from Negreanu, especially in the Main Event which is particularly made for TV this year. Danieal seems to shine when it comes time for the TV cameras to focus on him and this years Main Event with the Final Table being played months after the tournament, so that ESPN can give it plenty of coverage, seems made for Negreanu. There is probably not a more charismatic player on the tour and his presence at the Main Event Finals Table would be a huge boost for the poker industry. Let's hope he continues to be on top of his game at this year's WSOP.

All in all, Danieal Negreanu has 4 WSOP bracelets and has cashed 31 times in various events over the years. He was 2004 player of the year after winning 2 WPT titles and 1 WSOP bracelet. He also won the first WSOP event he ever played in at age 23. He remains one of the good guys playing the game. He is fun to watch, can be  mind-boggling in his ability to "put" other players on the hand they actually have(his reads of other players having already grown to legendary proportions), and maybe most importantly, is respectful of the game and the other people playing it. In this day and age when you see so many players, who have yet to learn sportsmanship, yelling and screaming and thumping their chests when they eliminate another player, Negreanu is a breath of fresh air to a sometimes egotistical game.  Though he is a young player himself, many of the younger pros that you see covered on television could to well to model their conduct, if not their poker game, after this excellent player.
