For those of you interested in live tournaments, there is a very good set coming up at the Venetian in Vegas January 29th-February 25th. This month long run is one of Ventian’s Deep Stack Extravaganzas that they do several times a year. The buy ins are not small, ranging from $340, $550, $1070, and $2500 for the 3-day Main Event, but there will be tons of prize money available and a lot of players playing.
Interestingly, these events, rather than just being NL Hold’em will include a couple of other games, like the $1070 entry PLO tournament on 2/1 and the $550 HORSE tournament on 2/15. As you know, if you play games other than NL Holdem, it is not as easy to find big tournaments that offer them because most of the time NL Hold’em is the dominant game. I am certainly thinking about playing in the HORSE event and maybe one of the Omaha events as well.
Anyway, tickets to Vegas are cheap and the Venetian poker room is a very nice one to play in, check out the schedule and find and event that interests you. Its a good excuse to get to Vegas!
