Poker Stars NL Hold’em WCOOP Event #1

The 1st day of PokerStars WCOOP concluded yesterday and I wanted to give a shout out of congrats to Greg G who bested over 8200 other players to finish 300th and in the money in Event #1, the $215 NL Hold’em 6-handed event. Greg made a great showing putting in nearly 10 hours of play yesterday in his 1st major event. Making the money with 1300 players left he proceeded to move up the money ladder rung by rung until he caught a bad break with his TPTK running into a big stack who sucked out a set on the Turn and put him out in 300th place.

Overall, very well done, Greg, and great job finishing so high in a event of this size. It is never easy to hang in and keep your concentration over that period of time, it takes a lot of skill and great mind set to do so. Kudos again, and next time don’t stop until you hit that 1/4 of a million dollar first prize!

Event #2 was a $215 RAZZ tournament that I played in myself. With over 1500 players entered it was a grueling 8 hours of RAZZ before I finally succombed in 154 place to at least make the money and a few hundred over the course of the day. It is interesting to note that I satellited into this event, thereby increasing my profit margin greatly when I cashed out. All in all, playing RAZZ for that long is a tester and at least my computer didn’t end up sailing out the window.

Today, in a few hours is Event #3 PL Omaha 6-max, so I am going to try to start a streak of cash outs and maybe, with a little luck, make a deep run in this one. Remember, satellites are going all the time, so check them out under the “satellite” tab and look for the orange WCOOP that corresponds to the event you want to qualify for. Good luck, see you at the tables!
